Standars and legislation
What are the applicable standards?
The most advanced state of the art in rack inspection is set out in standards UNE EN 15635 “Storage in metal racks. Use and maintenance of storage equipment‘, UNE 58014 ’Storage in metal shelving. Validation of storage equipment‘ and UNE 58018 ’Storage in metal shelving. Technical inspection of storage equipment” published in 2022.
Standards UNE 58018 and UNE 58014 indicate that inspections must be carried out by an expert or inspection body at least every 12 months, following the criteria established in Standard UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17020, mainly in relation to Chapter 4 on the independence, impartiality and integrity of the inspector.

In addition, the racks as work equipment are subject to compliance with the current occupational safety regulations:
- NTP 852 "Storage in metal racks" of the Instituto Nacional de Seguridad de Higiene en el Trabajo.
- RD 486 / 1997 "Minimum provisions for health and safety at work".
- RD 1215 / 1997 "Minimum health and safety provisions for the use of work equipment".
